Phaedra is the Principal and Co-Director as well as being the Dance Centres main Choreographer. She is a Fellow and Examiner in SIPBE in the Ballroom and Latin American branches as well as the Theatre disciplines. She is also a qualified member of the PDS and SSFJ societies. She has obtained many medals and awards in both RAD and SIPBE, including the prestigious Paramount Award. She also dances professionally and has danced in many shows and cabarets around the world including Japan, India, Morocco, Portugal, France, Italy and many other countries as well as dancing here in Spain and for many prestigious cruise lines.
Marcia is the
Founder and Director of the school. She is a Fellow and Examiner of La
Sociedad Independiente de Profesores de Baile en Europa in Ballroom, Latin
American and Sequence Branches. She is also a qualified member
of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and the
International Dance Teachers Association in Ballroom and Latin American
as well as being an International Adjudicator with numerous
qualifications.
John (FASC, FGMS, GBSM, LTCL, ABSM) is our very
talented singing teacher who voice coach and teaches a wide variety of
styles from opera to classical to pop and more. Private lessons are
available by appointment. John also teaches Piano, Keyboard and Music
Theory.
Suzanna is our Flamenco
specialist. She is a qualified member of SIPBE in the Modern/Jazz
discipline. She has worked around the world with various troupes
including Man Hunt, the Ray Cornell Dancers and Midnight Moods in
various Theatres, Casinos and Nights Clubs, as well as working on many
prestigious cruise liners. Suzanna is also one of the founding members
of the Sapphire Dance Group.
Clara de Luna is our Yoga teacher. Her aim is to help people both physically and mentally. She is an expert in techniques to avoid stress and anxiety practising and teaching classical Yoga. She started practicing Yoga in 2011 training as a student of Yoga in the Sivananda center, in Calm and Lucidity and Oasis of wisdom and other teachings in the Paramita Buddhist Center and graduated in yoga
Fermin and Gloria are specialists in caribbean rhythms and latin dance such as salsa, bachata, merengue, rueda de casino, cha cha cha, etc... Although they also master many other rhythms, they have been teaching for more than 20 years. They are the organizers of the jornada salsera dance festival and in turn participate as teachers in different national dance congresses. They are also zumba and physical conditioning monitors through dance.
Luaren is our qualified Drama teacher running our Phoenix Oscars Drama Club. She studied a unique degree at Reading university - Theatre, Education and Deaf studies and has been teaching English and Drama since 2016. She has performed at numerous theatres and events including the Cannes Film Festival. As well as running the drama club, Lauren will be teaching GCSE drama and LAMDA Certifications.
Sam (Samantha) Jurd grew up in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and started cheerleading/majorettes at the age of 9-16. As a member of the Spa Majorettes she took part in many competitions in the South West and Wales area of UK, many of which they won. Sam is BCA (British Cheerleading Association) qualified and in 2010 formed the Costa Blanca Flamingos until 2015. In January 2020 Sam decided to relaunch the Flamingos under the Marcia's Dance Centre umbrella as the MDC Flamingos.
